short to write as I would like to.

Ascension, followed by the Divine Liturgy at St. Basil Seminary Chapel.
Saturday, May 3, 5:00 PM – Vesper Service at the Seminary Chapel.
Sunday, May 4, 9:30 AM – Orthros (Matins) Service, followed by the Divine
Liturgy at St. Basil Seminary Chapel.
Tuesday, May 6 through Tuesday, May 13 – Visit to Rome with other
Melkite clergy and people from throughout the world, to escort His Beatitude
Gregorios III Laham, Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, of Alexandria and
of Jerusalem, in his first official visit to His Holiness Benedict XVI Pope of
Rome.
Thursday, May 8, In the morning - Official Audience with His Holiness.
On the evening - Patriarchal Concelebrated Divine Liturgy at the Tomb of
St. Paul, at the Basilica of “St Paul Outside the Walls.”
Friday, May 9, 8:00 PM – Dinner in honor of His Beatitude offered by Mr.
Nicola Khoury, Past Lebanese Minister at the Hilton Cavaliere Hotel.
Saturday, May 10, AM – Patriarchal Concelebrated Divine Liturgy at the
Tomb of St. Peter, at the Basilica of St. Peter, in the
Vatican.
5:00 P.M. Sunday Vespers at the Chapel of the Collegio Greco di
Sant Atanasio, my Alma Mater in the years 1948-52. A buffet dinner
followed.
Sunday, May 11, 10:30 AM - Patriarchal concelebrated Divine Liturgy at
our Melkite Church of Santa Maria in Cosmedin, the official residence of the
Patriachal Representative in Rome.
Visits to the Vatican Officials during our stay in Rome included:
His Eminence Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, Secretary of State of the Vatican;
H. Em. Leonardo Sandri, Prefect of the Congregation for the Oriental
Churches,
H. Em. Cardinal Walter Kasper, President of the Pontifical Council for
Promoting Christian Unity;
H. Em. John Louis Toran, President of the Pontifical Council for
Interreligious Dialogue,
& H. Em. Renato Rafaelo Martino, President of the Pontifical Council for
Justice and Peace.
Monday, May 12 – Return to Methuen, MA. The previously scheduled trips
(“around the world”) were cancelled because of the political troubles in
Lebanon at that time (May 5. . .) and the temporary closure of the Airport of
Beirut.
Wednesday, May 21, 5:00 PM – Vespers of the Feast of Corpus Christi,
at Saint Basil Seminary Chapel.
Thursday, May 22, Feast of Corpus Christi (The Divine Body – Eucharist)
10:30 AM – Matins (2nd Part) and Divine Liturgy at the Seminary
Chapel.
Tuesday, May 27 – Travel to Lebanon, to my Hometown, Maghdoucheh in

cousin and my Godmother.

Saturday, May 31, 7:00 PM – Wedding of Jean Jabbour Hourany and
Rajaa Boulos Hayek (Second Cousin) at St. Francois Church of the
Capuchins at Hamra, Beirut, followed by the wedding Dinner Reception at
the Sergeants Club Central Hall in Fayyadieh.
Sunday, June 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29, 10:00 AM – Divine Liturgy at Our Lady
Church in MAghdoucheh.
Sunday, June 1, 2:00 PM – 40the Day Memorial Mercy Meal for Nazlie
Abboud Saif, sister of my Sister-in-law Mona Nassib Elia, at the Amar el-
Lail (Moon of the Night) Restaurant in Kornet Chahwan.
Monday-Saturday, June 2-7 - Melkite Patriarchal Synod at Ain-Traz, the
Patriarchal Summer Residence.
Tuesday, June 3, 10:10 AM – Visit of the Patriarch with the Fathers of the
Synod to the new President of the Republic of Lebanon, General Michel
Sleiman at the Presidential Palace in Baabda.
During the four week vacation in Maghdoucheh, my hometown, my daily
schedule includes usually a morning walk in the hills and valleys surrounding
Maghdoucheh and an evening Divine Liturgy at the Miraculous Shrine of Our
Lady of Mantara (The Waiting Lady), with individual visits to relatives and
friends and to the sick and homebound of the town.
Sunday, June 29, 12:00 noon – Baptism of my grandnephew Eddie, son
of Marwan B. & Carla (Elia) Khoury, followed by the Baptism Reception at
the Challal (Falls) of Djezzine Restauraant.
Saturday, July 5, 6:00 PM – My last Divine Liturgy at the Miraculous
Shrine of Our Lady of Mantara (the Waiting)
Sunday, July 6 – Travel to Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
My stay in Australia through October 28, 2008, will include the participation
in the International Youth Days with His Holiness Benedict XVI in Sydney,
on July 15-18,
And substituting for Fr. Samir Haddad, Pastor of St. Joseph Melkite Church
in Melbourne, Victoria, during his three month vacation.
